i could teach you (but i'd have to charge)

Close your eyes. Imagine you're reclining in your Tiki Lounge sipping a perfect martini as instructed by Playboy Magazine. Ignore the oh-so-noughty humping of the mic stand (unless, of course, that's your thing). Amy Winehouse has a voice to take you back.

Born forty years earlier, she could have been the White-Out tipped into the Ink Spots. As it is, her cover of Teach Me Tonight rivals Sarah Vaughan's 1961 duet with Joe Williams for style, soul and sheer ineffable essence of jazz. Who gives a flying pharynx if she drinks too much? Since when do we get to dry-clean our divas?

Then again, the story didn't end too well for Billie Holliday or Janis Joplin. Amy, please, make some more of that milkshake before you go the way of the Ugliest Man on Campus.
